Petru MUNTEANU received his professional training in Bucharest from Profesor G. MANOLIU (pupil of Enescu) and took part in Master Classes with J. JANKELEVITSCH (Moscow) and M. WEIMANN (St. Petersburg). After a period as a professor at the Bucharest Conservatoire and director of the Special School of Music in Bucharest, he has been teaching since 1970 at the conservatoires in Lübeck and Hamburg. In 1994 Petru MUNTEANU had been offered a professorship at the Rostock Conservatoire. He became well-known in and outside Germany by concerts, Master Classes and his numerous publications and speeches. He was teaching indifferent masterclasses: Russia (Moscow, St.Petersburg), Ukraine (Kiev, Charkow), China (Shanghai), USA (Brunswick), Spain (Madrid), Poland, Romania, CS (Praha), Switzerland (Bern), Frankreich (Paris, Montpellier). Petru MUNTEANU is artistic director of the international violincompetition and the Master Classes for strings in Kloster Schöntal (Baden-Württemberg). His students are members of the best German Orchestras (Philharmonics Berlin, Hamburg, Bayerische Staatsoper etc.) and lots of them have been awarded First prizes at national and international music competitions (Bruxelles 2001). He also works as member of the jury at great international music competitions e. g. "Jampolsky“ (Rusia), "Kocian“, "Concertino Praga“ (Tschech Republik), "Wieniawski“ (Polen), "Bach“ (Leipzig), "Enescu“ (Bukarest), "Tchaikowsky“ (Moskau), "Premio Paganini“ (Genua), “Premio Lipizer” (Gorizia), “Königin Elisabeth” (Brüssel), “Szigeti-Hubay” (Budapest).
